Nashville, Tennessee METAL DETECTORS ARMY SURPLUS AND SUPPLY
GAS MASKS FACTS
Surplus military gas masks are available because they are old, obsolete,
damaged or worn out. Even new surplus masks may offer little protection, as
they may not have the NBC filter you need. Troops train extensively in
Nuclear Biological Chemical preparedness, donning masks, hoods, suits, gloves
and boots, then removing this gear and decontaminating.
You will need all this gear, plus the training to be ready, and of course
notification of an attack, in time for you to prepare! Only a few individuals
or groups need this protection, just as few of us need an armored limo or a
gated compound. If you do decide you need or want this degree of readiness,
go first class. Buy current production masks and suits, certified for NBC
protection, and some training to use them.
Some surplus masks may be adequate, but please don't waste $30 to $200
dollars on a mask that would ordinarily sell for twenty bucks at Halloween.
We do have some surplus masks, suits, hoods and boots and will sell these
with the market. Of course we can make no recommendation of their
effectiveness.
One other point. We live in a vast land, where the chance of an attack to
most of us is remote. Also chemical and biological agents are designed to be
used against troops in the field, civilians that basically live in or are
caught in the open are most vulnerable. Our modern houses are fairly tight
and as the authorities advise, a little duct tape and plastic sheeting will
make them relatively safe. You need to have all the essentials to hold you
and yours for 3 to 14 days minimum.
Hope this information helps.
